We found out about Mom's cancer a couple of weeks ago. She's in the early stages of breast cancer. You see, my grandmother had breast cancer. Ma's close care has certainly saved her life. It's been almost like a snowball rolling down a hill since then. Time goes by faster and the situation becomes bigger. Today is a week from the day my Ma is scheduled to have a bi-lateral mastectomy. We're all worried, but no one will admit it except Mom. She's hitting this thing head on and never looking back. That's much braver than I would ever be.
Above all, I realize our mortality, how much faith matters, and just exactly how strong the women of my family are. I am one of them and it is my sincere effort to be just like Ma: Strong and unafraid to admit to being afraid.

megs, you already are. I never want to hear otherwise! being worried about the ones we love is NEVER a sign of weakness. It is a sign of our love and fear of loss. To miss someone is the greatest honor you can give them. Just keep lovin her and let all of the rest of us love you! If you need ANYTHING at ANY TIME of the day or night, don't hesitate. <3 Jules
